It's Christmas! And counting down to the New Years….Two ingredients remain vital to this season of festivities…food and fashion.
In fashion, we've left behind the fashion staple of only LBDs and decode the fashion essential this season as described by four fashionistas from the city. Introducing an eclectic mix of contemporary and vintage, they have designed eye catching dresses to spice up Christmas and New Years.
Agam: designer- AgamStyle mantra: Passion for fashion as she writes in her blog, Trimmings and Lace.
-I pick brocade this season since it has the texture of royalty and can be carried as formal fabric.
-My take is on a cocktail dress with a simplistic cut and little edginess at the back. Brocade gives an ethnic feel and can be accessorized well, giving a new look each time.
-Burgundy is the au courant colour for fall 2012/13 fashion.
-Statement pieces in accessories provide everyday bling. Overdoing accessories is a no no. Stockings are in
vogue now.
-Biggest fall fashion trend is of Baroque fabric.
Bling bling: designer(s)- sisters Ashita and Mini Sondhi Style mantra: Bling of colours, hence their label name.
-We've designed minimalistic piece in neon orange since neon colours are hot and so are well fitted dresses with puff sleeves, in basic cuts and deep back.
-We recommend minimal makeup and accessories.
-If you don't want a dress in neon, then footwear in neon should be considered, like teaming a nude coloured dress with a pair of neon pumps is very chic.
-A neat cut and a peplum around the waist is a fall fashion trend for a breezy, feminine shape.
-Don't go overboard. The garment must speak for itself, because this season, less is more.
SP Square: designer(s)- twin sister duo Puneet and Suneet BrarStyle mantra: Haute Couture in wedding trousseau, gowns, cocktail dresses.
-Sequins are big this winter. We've designed gold sequinned body con dress in a basic cut.
-We've given lacy stockings in black which gives an extra edge to the outfit.
-In keeping the sequins, we've accessorized it minimally. For dark coloured outfits, a vibrant lipstick, bright pink, scarlet red or orange, completes it.
-Colour contrast is the coolest trend this Christmas. Greens, oranges, reds…are all in.
-Tobacco is the colour for cooler temperatures. Brown boots or belts are an absolute essential.
Shelly's Wardrobe: Designer - Shelley Style mantra: A belief that she was destined to be a designer.
-Bling, though appealing, should be kept subtle. Anything jazzy would overdo it.
-Coloured boots, like yellow boots, are flattering this season.
-Dresses with bling besides the regular gold, silver or black, are classics.
-Short coats have a universal appeal and create the illusion of layering.
-Inverted heels are creative.
